Two Bit Movie Club Bonus Feature: DVD Commentary

Join us for a very special edition of Two Bit Movie Club as we celebrate the almost certainly dead art form of the DVD commentary track.

This disappearing artefact of physical media burned bright in its short lifetime, offering us occasionally far more candid than you’d expect insights into the processes and personalities behind movies. Unscripted, unstructured, unedited, and unedited, these commentaries departed the world before anyone really figured out what they were for and how you were supposed to do them. Disgruntled directors watching their own movie for the first time in 20 years, drunk actors telling legally actionable stories about mishaps on the set – these studio afterthoughts provide a perversely personal glimpse into the work of making movies.

We’ll be going through clips of some of the all-time great commentary tracks, from the childlike enthusiasm of Conan’s Arnold Schwarzenegger to the jaded weariness of Armageddon’s Ben Affleck.
