The season kicks off on the 28th of Feb so the sooner seasons are locked in the sooner the schedule can be released.

What is it?

  • Team pinball play that takes place over the course of a season
  • A team will consist of 4 players and each meet they will battle against another team of 4
  • Teams will play every other team at least once over the course of the season
  • Teams will play once or twice a month depending on the fixture lay out

At the completion of the regular season, the teams at the top of the points ladder will play off to find our season champion team, with a B Division final if numbers permit.

The competition is non-IFPA rated and aimed at engaging new and prospective players. Coaching will be highly encouraged, and the format is designed to group established players with new players. The focus will be on fun as opposed to competition with each team giving itself a team name and players being encouraged to coordinate outfits.

Each team will compete monthly with the season taking place over the course of six to nine months depending on numbers.

Salary Cap

A salary cap will be in place for each team. IFPA ranked players will be assigned a value from 1 to 6, with 6 being the highest value. Values can be found here by entering your current IFPA membership number.

Non-IFPA ranked players will be given a 1 value. Each team of 4 may create a team with the total sum of all player values being up to and including 14. Each player must compete in a minimum of 2 meets.

E.g. The Silver Ball Slappers consists of Joe, Mike, Irene, and Ethel. Joe is a 6, Mike is a 3, Irene is a 3, and Ethel is a 2. 14 is the total and the team is meeting the salary cap requirement. If Ethel was swapped for Jimbob, who is a 3, the total would become 15 which is not within the salary cap and they will not be permitted to play as a team.

Format

Each meet will involve 2-3 head to head team battles, so 4-6 teams in total. Each team’s players will be seeded, 1 through 4, with 1 being the highest IFPA rated player and 4 being the lowest. In the case of ties, the team may choose ranking.

The matches for each round will happen as follows:

Round 1 – 4 singles matchups:

  • P1 vs P1
  • P2 vs P2
  • P3 vs P3
  • P4 vs P4

Round 2 – 6 doubles matchups (winner is decided by cumulative total score of both players):

  • P1 & P4 vs P1 & P4
  • P2 & P3 vs P2 & P3
  • P1 & P3 vs P1 & P3
  • P2 & P4 vs P2 & P4
  • P1 & P2 vs P1 & P2
  • P3 & P4 vs P3 & P4

Round 3 – Split flipper

4 x open split flipper matches. Players nominate teams, with team A nominating first.

Each win is worth 1 point. A maximum of 12 points can be won in a single meet. Standings will be updated weekly and made available via the world wide web.
